Shot from the balcony, a distance of maybe 20-25m. We were told this would be ‘from the side of the stage, but could change’ and that didn’t make much sense knowing the venue so I hedged and brought along the 300mm – which ended up being the right thing to do!
I used the 1D4 with 300mm and the 5D2 with 70-200mm to get some wider shots. Taken at ISO2000 simply to make sure shutter speeds were going to be enough, the main issue was a backlight shining directly towards where we were standing and therefore washing out a whole bunch of shots when it was on.
