Rock Highway 2009

Zurich, 2 January 2010

10 bands each with 20 minute sets and a 10 minute turn-around means around 5 hours of gig… that adds up to around 1,000 photos and a very late night (or a 4 a.m. early morning depending on how you look at it!). However, this is a great competition for Swiss rock bands spread over several rounds and this year ending in a major Zurich rock venue, the Volkshaus.

Many thanks to Lore for letting me shoot the contest again, and then for using my shots for the website (www.rockhighway.ch). One year ago this contest gave me a great first insight into concert photography, I found shooting 6 – 10 bands per night for 6 nights over a few weeks is a great way to pack in the gigs and learn things pretty quickly! I’ve also kept in touch with some of the bands and try to catch them live with the camera when I can find the time…
