This was a soundboard shoot, with a contract. Lights were extremely good, shooting at ISO 1250, up to f/7.1 at times, and shutters at or above 1/250. All shots on 1D4 with 300mm f/2.8 and monopod for stability. We were about 30-40m from the stage and this combination allowed her to fill the frame from top to bottom in landscape, or if turned to portrait then you can catch her with arms raised. I had the 5D2 with 70-200mm and 1.4x extender but didn’t use it, choosing to focus more on Rihanna rahter than the set or other performers. I took probably my most shots ever for a single artist, filling up a an entire 16GB CF card…
